At the beginning of June we had a second Peaks climbing meet of the year. When we left the forecast was not looking good. The six of us Charles, Rob, Mark, Malcolm, Adam & Vanessa all met up at Cafe 19 in Calver. The forecast was still not looking. Our original plan was to go to Froggatt. We changed this to a walk along Stanage Edge with some scrambling/easy climbing if the weather allowed. A quick look at the guide found a “mod” route called Bumbler’s Arete, which could be our objective if the weather was really bad. We parked up near the popular end of Stanage and set off for a walk climb. We got to the crag and the forecast bad weather still had not arrived, so we started climbing. Routes climbed included Heaven Crack, Turk Crack & Verandah Cracks. It was a little damp. Later on in the day it did start to rain so we decided to pack up and go to Outside in Hathersage. Before we left the crag we decided to finish the day of with a mass solo ascent of Bumbler’s Arete.
